Working 24/7

I am gonna be working in the airport and meet students here in NYC till June 28th. I hardly have any days off and really not much free time, so it's a lot of work these days:)
But then my vacation starts on June 30th when I will fly to Florida for several weeks and meet my friends there and hopefully go on a road trip for a while with them to Grand Canyon. Meanwhile, it's mostly work here in New York:) I just try to make it as much fun as possible.

The beach part of Brighton Beach

Even though the Brighton part of Brighton Beach didn't impress me too much, the Beach part was actually much better. It feels really relaxing to feel the smell of the ocean and the ocean breeze and just walk in the sand along the oceanside line.

New Yorkers go Russian in Brighton Beach

You look at this picture below and probably think to yourself: "I thought Vanya was in America, but he seems to be back in Russia..." Well, not really.
My friend took me to Brighton Beach, which is little Russia inside New York. I was amazed at how Russian it really is and looks. Most of the people on the streets speak Russian, they sell Russian food and newspapers, they dress the Russian way,the apartment buildings look Soviet style and overall, if not for the English words on the signs, you would totally think you are somewhere in Russia.
Ironically though, because Brigton Beach is so dirty and kind of presents low-end life style, you would not think highly of Russia if you were an American visiting Brighton Beach for a day.

Hitting the Brooklyn edge with Vanya

I met with my friend Vanya, who is also going to be in the States this summer, and we hit the Brooklyn Bridge and then the Brooklyn district. Visiting Brooklyn is always quite an experience, as it feels like you are in some African colony with a lot of black and poor/ghetto style people.
It really felt like we were the only white people on the streets of Brooklyn.
