Seattle Weekend!

>> Saturday, July 12, 2008

On Friday me, my friend Samuel with his younger brother Daniel, David and Sebastian all went to Seattle to sightsee and feel the atmosphere of the city.
I might say that Seattle attracted me from the very first view of it. It is very balanced, and I feel comfortable in its rhythm. Seattle is kind of a smooth-pace life city, not too slow, but not crazy like New York either. Even though they have some weird people, especially in the downtown, A lot of homeless people, begging for money. One of them tried to steal my food from me, when I was not very concentrated: he almost grabbed the bag with bananas from my hands, and I didn't even understand what is going on at first.
I really love the amazing mountain-views on the bay, especially the snowy mountain-tops. The architecture is a lot like in Moscow, even though more avant-garde at times, but I really liked the apartment buildings, malls and offices.
It feels like there is a lot of air in the city, and it really is so. Plus besides the stereotype that it is always raining in Seattle, we were lucky enough to be there on a sunny warm day, so the time was totally enjoyable.
In the evening David and Sebastian arrived back home, and I went to Sam's house and we hanged out there with his big family and did fun things, so I actually stayed for one more day till the Saturday evening. And on Sunday morning I am leaving for the soccer camp to be a counselor there during next 6 days, so that's quite crazy now as I have almost no time left to pack some stuff for the camp.
I better do it right now:) Meanwhile, enjoy the pictures:) Feel the energy!

Yes, Canada is really close. Unfortunately, right now it seems like with all the regulations and time-limits I might not be able to visit Canada and my friends there this summer, even though I was really looking forward to it:(

Samuel-Daniel-David-Sebastian

Apartment Building. I would totally love to own a condo here:)

Space Needle Tower. Seattle City Center.

Seattle Metropolitan System. Big part of it is really underground, even though it consists of buses and not trains, and most of those buses don't use gas while inside the city, they go on special electro-power trails. Ecology and GreenPeace, I guess...Plus gas is super-expensive in the States right now anyway.

One of the Seattle symbols: Starbucks. Everywhere. On each corner, in every building.

Levi's Store. And those cool Big Jeans. I want them!

Convention and Trade Center

Pike Place Market. For some reason this market place is considered to be the heart of Seattle. It used to be a simple market, but as time went on it more and more transformed into a tourist attraction. Quite a view apparently, and I would say looks a lot like market place in Moscow.

Vanya! So glad we have a good connection here in Mongolia. It doesn't always work but when it does it's fast! So I'm loving looking at your pictures.
We aren't giving up on seeing you yet.... that would be too sad:(
Hope you are enjoying camp- maybe you'll sleep better without the internet:)
