My first day at work!

>> Thursday, July 03, 2008

Finally after 2,5 weeks of a job-hunt, I started my new work today and enjoyed the first day.
I work in the office for the Northwest Soccer Camp (you can check their web-site www.nwsoccer.org; there you can find all the information about different soccer programs that they have for kids and families, and also you might be interested to check their photo-galleries).
So part of my job is working in the office with database and documents, this type of job similar to what I've been doing for InterExchange back in Moscow, and also another part of my work is actually being a counselor on different weeks of the camp, so I'll be going out to a camp located on an island 2 hours away from Seattle on some days or weeks and help with the program; this is also related to my past experience of work in the camps.
I feel like I am just in the right place, doing the job that totally fits me, I like my co-workers; my director Debbie is in her 50s, another co-worker Amy is in early 40s, and another girl Joanna in her early 20s. It takes me 5 minutes by car or 25 minutes walking to get to the office from my house. What is significant, the office is located on the 2nd floor of my director's house, so we have a nice home atmosphere there... with coffee, tea and snacks available as well:) haha... Some pictures of my office coming soon.
I really liked my first-day and I learn everything fast and I was even answering the phone today already. I am gonna be working till the end of August!!!

Where I live in Remond is like 20 minutes on the car from Seattle, and it is in area known for being a home for Microsoft Corporation campus.
Big part of Redmond' population are high-level top-class specialists in technologies, computer science and related fields. Hence the houses here are usually very big and avant-garde styled, because people make big profits and wish to invest their money into a high-style way of life.
It's really interesting to walk around and look at all the different designs. However, I noticed that a bunch of houses are under sale, looks like the general economical crisis found itself a spot even here in Northwest part of the States.
Below are the pictures of typical houses here where I live. Pictures of the place where I live coming in the next posts!
