Fantastic first day in Florida

Kelsea, Elesa, Whitney and me

Today was a fantastically long and amazing day. After my 4-hour flight to Florida, I was picked up at Ft.Lauderdale airport by my friend Kaitlyn's dad James and her younger sister Kelsea. I was really tired after the flight, and was thinking about going straight to bed to get some sleep, but they suggested going to the ice-skating rink for a while. Maybe not the typical first thing to do in Florida, but I enjoyed that time a lot.
Afterwards, we went to a really great diner, where you pay 10$ and get unlimited access to all the fantastic food, like salads, soups, desserts, drinks, and everything tastes so good there. I am sure this will be my favorite place here in Boca Raton to dine out. The food was really amazing:)
Around early evening we got home at Boca Raton. Boca Raton is not a big city, around 60,000 people, but it's chic and kind of posh, I totally love the atmosphere. I took a short nap, but it didn't last long, because my friends Whitney and Elesa stopped by and then we all headed to the movie theatre and watched the new "Proposal" with Sandra Bullok. It is hilarious, so definitely watch it if you get a chance. I met some more new people, like Paul and Graham and I am sure we will continue to hang out more with them in the following weeks:)
The weather here in Florida is really rainy, it was drizzling all day today, and the air feels extremely humid, but it's alright:) Tomorrow we have a big day, and in the evening we will have a church youth group with my friends. I can't wait:)

I do skate pretty well, but we took this picture for fun. And those white things are not very helpful in learning how to skate.

Fun day of BICYCLE riding through the busy streets of New York

>> Friday, June 26, 2009

The bicycle is the perfect modern-day statement of practicality, green awareness and chic.
Today New York was finally warm and sunny, and for once it felt like the summer arrived in the city. I got a chance to rent a bike on Broadway for free for couple hours (big thanks to TopMan clothing store that is doing this promotion in celebration of summer), so I had a wonderful time streaming through the very busy streets of Big Apple on my cool bike (and yes, the bike was really chic, people who were passing by were staring at my bike and I heard some nice comments behind me:).
Anyway, one thing I realized once again was how bad the traffic is in New York. The streets are packed with cars, and I was moving way faster than all those drivers around me. However, because in New York bikes are not allowed on the pavement and you have to ride along with all the cars on the main streets, you can't really relax totally and you have to always watch out for other cars and be aware of what's going on around.
Overall, this bike tour around NYC was probably one of my best tours around the city that I had so far. And again, the weather was just perfect today, so it was a very great and positive day:)

Many New Yorkers went out today to enjoy the warm and sunny day, which is such a rare commodity in New York this summer
